Chicago: [1970s]. Item #2046
10 black and white photographs printed on fine photo paper of varying weights. Paper measures 9 7/8” x 8” with images a bit smaller. Most very good plus or better with a light curl. These moving images of African Americans are reminiscent of John H. White's work depicting black culture on Chicago's South and West Sides for the Documerica Project in the early 1970s. They depict children, young adults and the elderly. There is no hint as to the identity of the photographer outside of four shots of a young Caucasian man's self-portrait in a mirror (not included in this lot but we still hold a scan of it). These are duplicates of a larger collection of 84 photos previously sold. Compelling and captivating images of Chicagoans. This item is offered by Langdon Manor Books, LLC, antiquarian booksellers.
