Photo Album of University of Michigan Student Athlete. Mostly Michigan, 1925-1935. 10” x 7”. String-tied faux leather boards with 93 photos mostly measuring 4½” x 2¾” pasted on the front of each page (42 leaves, 84 pages). Some photos as large as 7” x 5”. Album good with several chipped and detached leaves; photos overall very good, with some staining; one photo laid in. This photo album shows a University of Michigan student athlete who appeared to thoroughly enjoy the freedom of young adulthood during his college days. Pages are filled with a copious amount of lady friends, his buddies, and several smiling photos of himself. Participants take particular enjoyment from swimming, with quite a few pictures showing them near water or in bathing suits. He is very admiring of his fellow athletes, with several images showing coaches, captains, and teammates. Photos are thoughtfully captioned with first and last names of friends, locations, and sometimes silly remarks like, “Oh yes, ” for an image of him in a car, and a blurry image of a person in a bathing suit captioned, “Yea-I know its terrible. ” A nice documentation of one young man's seemingly carefree days in college.
