Five volumes bound in one: 1879 Melange (118 pages) ; 1882 Melange (published 1881, 162 pages) ; 1881 Melange (published 1880, 108 pages) ; 1882 Melange (published 1882 and mistitled, should be 1883, 146 pages) ; An Address At the Semi-Centennial Commencement of Lafayette College Delivered June 27th, 1882 (48 pages). Very good: sound binding, lightly toned and unmarked pages, some flaking to spine; page 89/90 and accompanying plate detached from 1881 edition. All books lack the advertisements and the image on the football team page for the 1879 edition has been excised (and shown in one of the photos). A rare collection of yearbooks for Lafayette College, notable for the documentation of its early adoption of American football. Lafayette has one of the oldest college programs in the country. According to its wiki-page the game was introduced in 1880 by Theodore H. Welles. The 1879 yearbook included here disputes that, showing a football team for the school in 1879 with no mention of Welles. Each year's sports pages involving football are shown.
