Very good: moderate edge wear, scattered insignificant dampstaining, tiny penciled note on title page. A privately printed treatise on tanning, the author traveled to numerous states meeting with tanners, leather and hide merchants, and stationers to provide information on the systems employed. Chapters include methods for softening dry hides, hair removal, trees and shrubs which can be used to extract tanning powder and more. Rare: OCLC locates one copy. None in the online auction records.
