5 1/8” x 3 ¾”. Single sheet, folded, making four pages (only the first handwritten) ; in original mailing envelope addressed by Whittier. Note near fine with some toning; envelope very good minus with staining and some chipping. A short note by the abolitionist and poet, presumably to a friend, written less than two years before his death. It reads, “My dear Mrs. Perkins/I am glad/to comply with the/request, and, with/sincerest sympathy, /I am very faithfully/thy old friend/John G.
