Green publisher's cloth with gilt on spine, marbled page edges. 3 volumes: Volume 1 begins with 24 pages consisting of the table of contents and index in lower case Roman numerals followed by pages 33-566) ; Volume 2 consists of pages 579-1088; Volume 3 consists of pages 1091-1619 + 157 plates not included in the pagination. An immense and richly detailed local history containing a 16 page index with hundreds of names and places. Despite the odd pagination, the set is complete as issued including all 157 plates of photographic illustrations (a few are photogravures or steel engravings) as called for by the table of contents. Condition: Very good plus: sound bindings showing light wear, clean and unmarked pages with light marginal toning. Inked notation to front pastedown and small tear to front free endpaper of volume one; inked notation to front pastedown and small sticker on front free endpaper of other two volumes.
