8vo 8" - 9" tall; [Women][Sororities? ] 5 ½” x 7”. Green textured cloth over card. 56 pages with 66 black and white photographs adhesive mounted. Album very good with light wear, some scuffing and a small splash of white paint on rear cover; photos generally very good, around 15 are fadedA joyful album of young women engaged in play around the turn of the century. At least 20 of the photos show the women in costume, celebrating Valentine's Day, Halloween, and possibly one or two other events. Many of the costumes have the women posing as men and a few are in blackface. Other photos show them picnicking, walking through snow and more. There are no captions in the album and internal evidence suggests the women are members of Delta Gamma at the University of Michigan as the recto of the first leaf reads “Delta Gama (sic) /Mich--” . That said, one photo shows four women holding letters that spell out “Ohio”. Regardless of place, a pleasing party album.
