Collection of 11 WPA Museum Extension Project Costume Lantern Slides
Original set of eleven educational lantern slides from the Works Progress Administration's Museum Extension Project, depicting traditional costumes from Persia, Burma, Turkey, Syria, India, Russian Turkestan, Nepal, Palestine, Afghanistan, Arabia and Siberia. Produced by the WPA during the New Deal, these slides formed part of a nationwide effort to expand access to art, history and cultural education
through museums, libraries and schools. An uncommon surviving group of Depression-era educational ephemera illustrating the WPA's investment in public education and visual learning. The slides measure approximately 31 4” x 4”. The list of titles on the slides follows:
