With the ownership inscription of Jacob Henry Smith, an important Presbyterian minister who served as a visiting chaplain to Confederate Troops in Wilmington and at Virginia. In March, 1865, his Greensboro church was used as a hospital to care for the wounded of the Battle of Bentonville. Condition: Fair: ex-library complete as issued with unmarked pages showing scattered foxing and a small loss to the upper right corner of the title page. Front board detached and most of spine perished, the front board and spine held together with a makeshift paper bookcover.
