This is an album of exceptional images of Native Americans captioned with lines from Longfellow's The Song of Hiawatha. The only clue as to location is a shot of a general store, “Flambeau Store,” with John White as the proprietor, but we have not been able to learn anything about it. 36 of the photos depict Native Americans and the others are nature scenes in line with Longfellow's work. They are likely Ojibwe and some of the nature scenes include snow.

There's a wonderful portrait of an elderly woman, and several show people smoking pipes, including a woman. We see a terrific group shot showing an internal view of a home and a few other photos are also taken inside homes. There's a also a lovely hand colored view of a young woman and a great shot of drying venison.

Amazing images of Native Americans alongside passages from The Song of Hiawatha.. Very good +. Item #8041
